Vertigo hits

My curse decided to visit me again. I woke up last Thursday with a headache and spinning visions. I couldn’t get out of bed like I used to. I stayed in bed the whole day with bathroom breaks in between. Haist, this is in contrast naman of how I was during the past few days; I did zumba last Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Good thing I did my grocery shopping na rin last Wednesday. Plus, my son was with me all night because he’s on a break from work after working over times the past few days. My husband took care of me during the day.

Yesterday, I was feeling much better and did the laundry and cooking for lunch and dinner. I don’t know if my menopausal period has got to do with this also. Luckily, I didn’t experience panic attacks this time. This, too, will pass.

Weekender 05: Procastination ends + Pleasant surprise

Last week was quite eventful. It started with my long overdue dental prophylaxis last Monday. Looking back, I'm glad I stopped procastinating about it because I went to the clinic just in time I needed one. Nasermunan ako ng doctor slash brother in law ko. Haha. I saved a lot of money just because I decided to came by. It caused me a few sleepless nights, actually.

Intermittent Fasting conclusion

I attended another zumba session on Wednesday, again struggling with just water, coffee, banana and three spoonfuls of shredded sweet corn. Parang nabubusog agad ako. One thing I observed from this fasting was it curbed my appetite. Hindi ko na na-eenjoy kumain. Ang sad di ba?

Weekender 04: Australian Open 2019 and Intermittent Fasting

I’ve been watching the Australian Open for almost two weeks now . It’s not a secret that tennis is my spectator sport. Mas gusto ko siya panoorin instead of actually playing it since the late 90’s. I like that a few young and very good ones are emerging like Naomi Osaka, Nikki Kyrgios and Stef Tsitsipas. But they have to wait, my faves are still reigning~ Novak Djokovic, Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer. Their time will come.

Stefano Tsitsipas
At the Men's single finals yesterday, Novak Djokovic emerged as the champion. It was his seventh. As much as I love Nadal, si Novak ang manok ko. It feels good that he's back on being World no. 1 after suffering from an injury and a surgery last year. In the women's division, 20 year old Naomi Osaka of Japan bagged the trophy.

Scoliosis and Yoga

I can’t remember if I mentioned here already that I have mild scoliosis. This is one reason why exercise has been part of my lifestyle since my 20’s. It won’t be cured but through proper exercise, I get to strengthen my bones and prevent getting Osteoporosis in the future.

Stretching one’s body properly is one major concern. I learned that I cant do na pala some Yoga poses because of my scoliosis.

These poses are advisable and can be done pre and post exercise...

Accept and act on it

After my usual tasks here at home, I headed to the gym for an hour of zumba. In addition, I also did some circuit training(weight bearing exercises with machines). I still did the required weight and repetitions that I used to train with. The difference is, I feel weaker and slower now. Yun yung nawawala, strength and endurance when you stop with your fit lifestyle. I’m currently on that stage. Ok lang yan, acceptance is the key. Yung kasunod niyan, you’ll do something about it.

slowly but surely

With almost six months of no strict diet, I know it would be hard for someone to just turn 360 degrees around to be conscious with what one suppose to eat on a given day. One key is to go back to what works for you~ mine is having a plant based and an almost pescatarian diet(no pork or beef). I am comfortable with this diet because I‘m not really a carnivorous person to begin with unlike my husband and son.

plant based

Apart from added cardio exercise 5-6x a week(I need this to lessen my excess poundage), I slowly went back to a plant based diet which been proven effective for me, the reason when everyone is on Keto diet, I chose this one. After Father’s day celeb yesterday, I prepared the following for today...

back to biking

I mean, on stationary bike. Last week, I asked my husband to put back our stationary bike in the bedroom. The last time I used it was last year pa. That time, it was no longer challenging to me. My fitness level last year was very high from March to I guess, October. When Christmas time came, I indulged myself in overeating and lack of exercise. Everyone asked me to gain some weight because I was 115 lbs. then, my ideal weight. Ayun nagtuloy tuloy na. Haha.

fitness journey 2018

Starting today, I’ll be posting updates on how I will try to go back to being fit and healthy after six months of indulgence. I confess, I indulged by choice with regards to my eating habits and inconsistent physical well-being unlike last year.

melting fats

Pushed myself to go and attend zumba today. I'm so lazy the past weeks.

no, it isn't me.

Satur-day off

I did my laundry yesterday and I have nothing pending to do, plus the husband went to work and my son was still asleep, I decided to go to the mall and attend zumba class by noon time. I prepped my son's lunch too, re-heat na lang niya. I know I mentioned a while back that I don't go malling on weekends because I don't like mingling with too many people, so I thought I would go as early as possible. I arrived at the mall by 10: 15 am just right for the opening. I went around Landmark's Home department first. Ang sarap ng maluwag at di matao. Di nakaka-stress. :D

gym day + Tuna Pasta

I was able to squeeze in some 'me time' today. After my usual household chores, I told my husband that I'll go the gym for an hour of zumba. Muntik pa di matuloy. I felt lazy after lunch but willpower won. Maybe because I need to go to the bank and pay some of my online purchases. Yes, you heard it right. This early I broke one of my 2018 goals. Waaah! It was an impulsive buy but I really like the items and the rest is history. If there's any consolation, it's not that expensive naman. But I would really, really need to control myself next time.

gym at last + Ayala Vertis North

kumukutitap... I can't take my eyes off them!
I finally had the chance to go to the gym for the first time this 2018. I attended the 12 noon zumba class. I was a bit surprised that the dance floor wasn't that full. Maybe because it's a Saturday. Normally, the gym is overpopulated during week days much more it's January, when people are trying to shake off the excess poundage gained from the month long holidays. Our instructor Zin Sophia had the best props, her sparkling shoes! In the teaching world, we call it motivation.

First Sunday 2018

Like what I’ve said, one my goals this year is to go to mass regularly. Today, I woke up by around 8:30 and was up by 9:00 am. I hurriedly prepared and was there just on time for the 9:30 mass. It’s a good thing that the church is just a five minute walk from our house.

getting fat

convo earlier with the husband...

H: Ma, tumaba ka na nga! (You’re getting fat)

Me: Talaga? Pangit ba? (Really? Do I look bad?)

H: Hindi. Mas maganda nga eh.  (Nope. You look better) 😩

Apparently, he likes my version with a five pound excess poundage from my ideal weight. 😄

Plateau anew

I decided to go to the gym yesterday though I'm still recovering from a pesky dry cough and colds over the weekend. What's important to me is that I'm not dizzy at all and I don't feel sluggish or weak to pursue exercise.

guiltless

After a one hour zumba(yup, two days in a row!) session yesterday I went home directly. I was trying not to window shop because when I checked on my finances towards the end of the year, I realized I didn't meet my expected savings of the year. I have so many unnecessary purchases this last few months(plus health emergencies). I need to keep my wallet close. And one tip is not to linger in the mall, if possible stick to my schedule that is.

Hospital episode

Last September 22 my husband finally had his surgery(neither minor nor major) at a local hospital. I can't disclose much for privacy reasons but I assure you that it's nothing cancerous or critical. It just required immediate attention because it was giving him discomfort already.

ran today

It's been a long time since I ran. I think mga 4 1/2 years. I can't remember if I already mentioned it here but my husband and I used to join marathons back in 2009-2011.

I joined 3k and 5K marathons then. In 45 mins I could run at least 7 km with a speed of 8 in the treadmill. There were times that we run also at ULTRA's oval.
