Red Emerald Philodendron

They are the last kind of plants that I wanted to buy. Maybe because I don't find them appealing since they don't have flowers.

Philodendrons are great filtering air pollutants. Besides being hardy, its large leaves are good as air purifiers, the reason why they are very popular as indoor house plants, too.

The first kind that I bought was the Philodendron Moonlight because of its striking neon colored foliage.

I realized on my own that they are very easy to care for, just with the right soil mix and lighting.

Most Philodendron varieties require bright and indirect light. They thrive best in light, well-drained potting soil mix(I used coco cubes and organic compost). As to propagation, a cutting below the leaf nodes and submerging it in water will achieve new roots in a few days.

My current favorite is the Red Emerald Philodendron which can grow from 3 feet to higher.

Organic foliar and leaf fertilizer

Plants as we all know have their own kind of food. As I go through this gardening journey, I always research or watch videos that would make me learn new things to apply it in my own plants to make them healthier and even bloom flowers endlessly. Didn't know that I could concoct fertilizer made from 2 ingredients in my kitchen! How? πŸ˜‰

re-potting serye: Monstera Adansonii

" Monstera adansonii, the Adanson's monstera, Swiss cheese plant, or five holes plant, is a species of flowering plant from family Araceae which is widespread across much of South America and Central America. " -Wikipedia

This is my second attempt since 2018  to own a monstera adansonii. The first one didn't last because at that time I obviously lack the know-how to care for it. Keeping my fingers crossed to finally have it prosper for a long time!πŸ™‚πŸ€žπŸ»

January 2021 Garden tour

Ending January with a garden tour. For me, this is the best season of all in this side of our planet so I made sure to document it. I realized there have been many changes(added and killed plants in the processπŸ˜€) since I had my walkabout in October last year.

A significant addition is my new passion in collecting succulents. Last November 26, I joined the CNS(cactus and succulents) bandwagon. I have purchased a lot from different sources and still learning about them. Pls. visit my Youtube channel to see this transformation> JANUARY 2021 GARDEN TOUR

Bye, Edsa! Hello, Skyway stage 3!

We went on a plant hunting yesterday in Laguna, south of Manila. We thought of traversing the newest completed goverment project which will shorten our trip by almost one and a half hours(and could be more, knowing Manila traffic) from our home in Quezon city in just fifteen minutes. It is an 18 kilometer stretch that is an alternate route from the much popular Edsa in Metro Manila.

Witnessed it ourselves and we couldn't be any happier. Now, we have lessen our travel time to go to the South of Manila or its nearby southern provinces.

Best to try it now because it is still toll free till Jan. 14! πŸ˜ƒ
