popcorn addiction

Aside from Halo-halo, I'm addicted to buttered popcorn since last month. Though I'm glad my halo-halo craving is almost waning, it seems may kapalit na siya. Hindi na nga matamis, pero oily naman. Que horror.

while waiting...

No reason to get bored. I have everything that I need.

Life's happening so fast that as much as I like blogging everyday, it seemed that the past two weeks came by so quick I wasn't able to keep up. Updating soon!

New baby

Our contract at Sun mobile expired last May 14. After four years, it was time to say goodbye to them. Medyo bitin kami sa services nila. You know naman the quality of internet services here in the Philippines, pang-21st slowest out of 22 countries.

Dad's special day

Today is my late father's birthday. He could have been 71 years old. Honoring his unconditional love for family, hardwork, and kindness with these Sampaguita flowers I personally plucked from my garden.

We miss and love you, Daddy. Have a great party in heaven!

Sunday cooking

Fresh crablets in coco milk and langka

The fifty percent Bicolana(known for food cooked in coco milk and chilis) in me strikes again...

Happy Sunday!

in bad shape

The heat is so unbearable that I needed to buy a new pair of short pants. Wearing long pants is a big no, no if one lives in a tropical country like ours. Pero ang dami ko pa rin nakikita nang nakasuot ng pantalon. Ang init. Bakit kaya? Ayaw umitim? Ayaw magalusan ang flawless logs, este legs? O ayaw makita ang mga peklat? I would rather wear a dress than to maltreat myself in doing so. Of course, to each his own.

the Equalizer

the last batch from our tree
My Halo-halo addiction this summer should stop na. I hate to admit but I'm too lazy to have my blood sugar level check.

I hope munching these freshly picked duhat or black plums will be suffice for now to keep me away from diabetes.

the rest of Mother's day

May 10, 2015

noontime seemed like 6pm

We went down from Baguio as soon as we checked out of the hotel. We wanted to dine at a nearby restaurant but the rain made us decide to just have our lunch at Matutina's in Urdaneta, Pangasinan(an hour drive away) just like we used to do. It was raining and foggy. After all, there was a typhoon, Dodong, specifically, but was far enough to affect Benguet province.

Mother's day 2015

It's my turn. I'm happy to celebrate this occasion with my boys in a much different way.

Vizco's Cake shop Baguio

May 9, 2015

More than blogs, I love Instagram too, to find anything new in the restaurant scene. Since we've been to Baguio many times, I'm always searching for anything new that this cool city would offer. We are not anymore after the touristy places but for the weather and the food trip na lang.

Camp John Hay + Chocolate de Batirol

May 9, 2015

When in Baguio, going to Camp John Hay is always a part of the itinerary for my family. It is a crime not to. It is here where we truly feel that we are in Baguio because of the numerous pine trees and lush floral vegetation that is seemingly decreasing in other parts of the city as time goes by.

Haircut + Army Navy

I'm happy to note that I finally decided to chop off my hair in "a huge way". I do have my hair trimmed at least twice a year for seven years na. It was long but has layers because it lessens the heaviness that I feel courtesy of having a long mane.

Valenzuela fire

I was quite shocked when I saw this from my dirty kitchen's window.

Sounds of sirens from fire trucks are all over. I knew from the looks of it that it will be a big one. Praying for minimal damage and everyone's safety.

Journal writing

Yes, I'm an old soul. Apart from this site, I still like to jot down things with a pen and a journal or on any piece of paper. I used to receive planners as Christmas gifts from my students when I was still part of the academic world. I wrote there my thoughts, my daily/weekly sked, the details of a seminar, the agenda for a faculty meeting and sometimes my skeletal lesson plan. A very handy tool for me indeed, if I may say so.

morning habit + coffee

I buy one now for my weekly meal plans, budget, expenses, and anything worth writing that catches my interest.

Birthday lunch at Cafe by the Ruins

May 9, 2015

We were quite surprised that it wasn't full on a weekend. I'm happy that we would not wait in line just like in our previous visits. A relaxed kind of lunch is what we need after a road trip.

Baguio weekend

As I've said in my previous post, my son and I agreed to celebrate our "special days" here in Baguio. My husband liked the idea because he wanted also to make new memories with his new bike, too. Plus, we would like to escape the hot 34 degree temperature of Manila even for a while. We woke up late so we were on the road by 6:30 am na instead of 5:30 am. No worries, as we just want to have a relax kind of "roadtripping". We traversed the NLEX and SCTEX  without a hitch. Thanks, God. Sa dami ng aksidente na nangyayari araw-araw, one can't help to be thankful.

Happy 22nd!

First out of town trip in Tagaytay city, August 1993
It's my unico hijo's birthday today and we're happy that we could celebrate it with him with a quick escape from Manila's humid weather.

why I love blogging

My first love. Although, I gave birth to my first site because I was depressed or in the lowest point of my life, it helped me tremendously in not just coping but I was able to survived those hard times eventually. In the past, I came up with at least three sites, count na natin ang Multiply.

warning: bawal mag-shopping

I will be having a self-imposed shopping ban starting today. I may not be an impulsive buyer or a big spender, but I have to do this to reach my money goals at the end of the year. I have everything I need. I have new clothes and shoes/sandals that I haven't worn yet. I'm confident that would tide me over the whole year round.

Lunch date at Mongkok and Coffee Bean

May 6, 2015

It was long overdue. Again. It should have been December, but life happened as always. I was occupied with family matters. She was busy with her school work, as she is a former co-teacher of mine in our first school/work place as newly graduates from the University of Sto. Tomas.

I love CBTL's ambience, Shangrila Plaza East Wing

April 29, 2015

Since my son bought the tickets out of his own pocket, we promised him that we will treat him to an early dinner.

Shake my head

I can't help but be amused with people nowadays. In this age of instagram and facebook, a lot seems to enjoy this instant celebrity status in social media. Noon ang tawag doon KSP lang, kulang sa pansin. Ngayon, kapag marami kang followers or likes, feeling sikat ka. Don't get me wrong. Natutuwa din ako kapag maraming nakaka-appreciate sa pictures ko, but I definitely don't dwell on that. I don't post pics just to gain popularity or to impress people. Bad yun. I'm talking about people who goes overboard. They tend to lose their true sense of self.

I'm loving my organic garden. It is summer, but so far, they're thriving.

Tropical Halo-halo

The culprit why my sugar level must be high nowadays. It is my current addiction. Much better than Chowking or Razon's which I think is becoming too expensive nowadays. Nilalanggam na ako.

Go, Manny!

Kahit umay na umay na ako sa balita about Manny Pacquiao, no thanks to the media hype, as a Filipino, I'm sending my best wishes and good vibes to our Pambansang Kamao. I know you can beat Mayweather.

To quote Manny, "Let's get it on!"!

Ankapawa 2015

I was invited by my Mom to this annual gathering of Leytenos on Labor day specifically Dagami town in honor of the feast of their patron saint, St. Joseph. It is usually celebrated with a mass, dinner, raffle and some socials like dancing and singing here in Manila. I'm not sure though how they celebrate it in the province.

He is also known as the patron saint of workers, being a carpenter himself.
