Ilocos Norte 2017

Day 1

We left home at 8: 30 am. Passed by NLEX and TPLEX. Sun was out, no weather disturbances. It was a good day for a roadtrip.

took a pic and tweeted this at 9:45 am somewhere along Tarlac TPLEX

By 11:30 am, we made a pit stop to use the bathroom of Petron gas station somewhere along Pangasinan, TPLEX.

We were on schedule. By the time we reached San Fernando, La Union we were famished. We looked for a restaurant along the way. Shortly, we found Cuisina.

Cuisina- highly recommended, very neat and well ventilated resto, attentive staff

flavorful Ilocano food on the table... thumbs up!

Poqui-poqui, an eggplant and egg dish

Tinumok-ground pork, shrimps wrapped in Taro leaves with coconut milk for sauce

In two hours, we reached Vigan by schedule, 4:45 pm. We parked at Jollibee in the town plaza and proceeded to Calle Crisologo for some photo ops.

We then looked for a hotel where we can stay for the night. We managed to take a peek in several hotels but most of them are fully booked because the members of the Councilor League of the Philippines were currently having an assembly in this town.

We decided to ride the calesa for experience. We were glad we did. Best activity for those who want to feel what it is commuting like in cobble stone streets during Spanish times. Plus, the kutsero(the one who's in charge of the calesa) serves na rin as tourist guide.

He also led us to somewhere we can purchase bagnet and longganisa Vigan.

bought 4 kilos

We put first our bagnet, chichacorn and longganisa in the car, we looked for a resto where we can eat.

Dinengdeng

Yang Chow rice with Bagnet toppings, yum!

We went back to the first hotel we walked in, Hotel Veneto de Vigan. I like how this old edifice was turned to a Spanish themed hotel.

They have ample parking space, and the best part is it's just a block away from Calle Crisologo, as in a two minute walk.

pluuus, I love their Christmas lights! beautiful in actual!
We're fortunate that there was already an available room for p2,900(50% discounted) in the ground floor. Someone was about to check out. We waited for about fifteen minutes and finally we were allowed to register. Now, we can rest from a long and fruitful day.
